Top: Service Renewal

Can I renew my domain even though it is expired already?

We will hold a domain for 40 days after it expires. You have up to 30 days grace period to renew the domain at the regular price. During the last 10 days of our 40-day holding period, an expired domain may be sold at auction by Directnic if you have not renewed it before that time. If you do not renew the domain within the grace period and it is not sold at auction, the domain will be sent to the corresponding registry for deletion. Once a domain expires and is to be deleted by the corresponding registry, the domain is held by the central registry for an additional 35 days before being released back to the public for registration (30 days plus 5 days deletion period). Please refer to the question "How do I renew a domain in redemption period" if you want to file a redemption claim.

It will take up to 48 hours to propagate your domain information to the Internet WHOIS if you renew your domain AFTER it expires. You are well advised to renew your domain at least one week BEFORE it expires.

On 28-Dec-2002, a new Redemption Period for domain names was instituted by ICANN, the governing body of the Internet. This means that when domains expire and go through the holding period through the registrar, the domain is held by the central registry for an additional 35 days before being released(30 days plus 5 days deletion period). Please refer to the question "How do I renew a domain in redemption period" if you want to file a redemption claim.
