What does "Mailbox is locked" mean?
When receiving the Webmail error 'failed: [IN-USE] Mailbox is locked', please take note of the following causes:
This error occurs when two simultaneous connections to the POP3 server are attempted. Only one connection at a time is allowed by the POP3 server to the same email box. Once the account becomes locked the user will have to wait 30 minutes, without any attempts to connect, before the lock is released. Now lets cover how this affects Webmail.
Various things you do in Webmail will connect to the POP3 server. Here are a few:
1. Checking for new mail
2. Deleting mail
3. Entering your Inbox (if you have check for new mail when entering Inbox checked in the account options)
If you attempt to do something in Webmail before a previous page loads you can get this error because the previous request did not yet release its connection to the POP3 server. This only occurs if both actions connect to the POP3 server (see list above). Double clicking can cause the same problems because you are, in essence, loading the same page twice.
