Note: The default homepage page (first page) for your site must be named index.html or index.htm, all in lower case.

An example domain name and user name were used through the instructions. Please substitute your own directNIC domain name and login information for the account used in the instructions.

Uploading Steps:

1. Upon opening WS_FTP the Session Properties window will pop up. If you have entered the information prior to this session, simply choose the Profile Name of the site you wish to use. If you have not already entered the site you are uploading to, click the New button to clear the fields and then enter the fields as shown in the image:

If you are located behind a firewall or gateway, you may need to alter the settings to allow for Passive transfers. To do this, click on the Advanced tab and check the box next to Passive Transfer.

Next, click OK to log in.

2. The window on the left is the local listing and the window on the right is the remote listing. You need to double click on the domain folders (directories) to open them.

3. After opening the domain folders in each window, you can start to transfer files between the windows. To upload files, simply highlight the files in the left (local) window, and then either click and drag them from the local to the remote window or click the --> arrow button between the windows.

Note: You may need to click on the Refresh button if you have modified any files during the uploading process.

4. To log out, simply close the window or click the Exit button.
