How do I set up the MX records for my Directnic Email Plan?

In order for your Directnic Email Plan to function properly, you will need to have MX records entered in for your domain name.  These instructions will tell you exactly where to add those records.

1) Log into your Directnic account here: https://directnic.com/account/login/

2) Place your mouse over the My Services section at the top of the screen and select Domains from the drop down menu

3) Click on the domain name that you are setting up email with.

At this point, you will need to check the nameservers for your domain.  You can find these listed at the bottom of the Details section of your current screen.  There are three possibilities.  The steps for all of the possibilities are listed below.

What Nameservers do you see?

                                         Action

ns1.dnchosting.com, ns2.dnchosting.com

Good news!  You do not need to make any changes.  Your email will be working within 24 hours.

ns0.directnic.com, ns1.directnic.com

1) Click on the Manage button next to DNS under the Services section.

2) In the Create a DNS Record section you will select MX as the Type from the drop-down menu

3) In the IFQDN section of Create MX Record, you will enter in your Email Plan server.  Example: webXXX.dnchosting.com, where XXX is the server number.

(If you do not know the server name, you can find it by going to My Services and clicking on Email.  Here you will click on the domain name.  The server is found under the Email Details section.)

4) Click the green Add Record button

Other nameservers

(non-directnic)

You will need to contact the company that is hosting your website and provide them with the MX record. The MX record will have no name field and the data section will contain your Email Plan server. Example: webXXX.dnchosting.com, where XXX is the server number.

(If you do not know the server name, you can find it by going to My Services and clicking on Email. Here you will click on the domain name. The server is found under the Email Details section.)

Once these records have been added, your email will function with no issues within 24 hours.  If you are still having issues after 14 hours, please contact customer support.
