What happens if I do not renew Direct Privacy?

ICANN, the governing body that monitors and polices internet resources, requires that any domain name must have its Registrant information publicly available and verifiable. This could allow any anonymous entity the ability to mine your private information from a simple WHOIS search.

Direct Privacy is a special feature that Directnic only offers its clients who have their domain names registered with Directnic. It is a feature that allows the masking of a Registrant's private information with Directnic's information. Instead of having your information freely shown in a WHOIS search, Directnic places its information in its stead. This feature does not in any way confuse the ownership of the domain name.

If this special feature is not renewed, Directnic will not be able to provide the masking and your private information will again be posted in any WHOIS lookup.
