What’s the difference between POP and IMAP?

All Email Accounts with Directnic can be checked via IMAP or POP protocol. IMAP shows information as it is stored on its hosting server (which can be viewed from multiple devices), and POP sends emails only to a single device.

When email is checked via IMAP, you are seeing the messages on a server-level. This is the recommended method of checking email, especially if you’re logged in from multiple devices. The email is viewable from your device, but is stored on the server.

When email is checked via POP, the messages are downloaded to the device itself. We recommend using POP if you check your email only on a single device, or you need to work with your mail offline.
