What is two-factor authentication?
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security by requiring two forms of identification when you log in. At Directnic, you can choose between using a smartphone app like Google Authenticator or a physical security key, such as a YubiKey.
-
Smartphone Application:
To use an app-based 2FA, download an authenticator app (like Google Authenticator) from your smartphone's app store. When logging in, you’ll first enter your password and then a code generated by the app on your phone. Without your smartphone, you won’t be able to log in. -
Physical Security Key:
Alternatively, you can use a physical security key, such as a YubiKey, to authenticate your login. Instead of entering a verification code, you simply press the button on the security key when prompted. This method complies with U2F and YubiKey standards. You can find more information and purchase a YubiKey on their website.
