What Name Server should my domain use?

Name Servers & DNS Management

Name servers tell the internet where to find your domain’s DNS settings.

If you want to manage your DNS through Directnic, your domain needs to use our name servers. We’ve made this easy by setting up two name server profiles for you:

  • Directnic Default – Use this if your domain is not hosted with a Directnic Hosting plan.
  • Hosting Default – Use this if your domain is hosted on a Directnic Hosting plan.

Choosing the right one ensures your DNS settings work correctly. A quick way to remember:

No hosting? Use Directnic Default.
Hosting with us? Use Hosting Default.

Name Server Profile Directnic Default Hosting Default
Name Servers ns0.directnic.com
ns1.directnic.com
ns2.directnic.com
ns3.directnic.com
ns1.dnchosting.com
ns2.dnchosting.com
What tool to use to manage it? DNS Manager Zone Editor
How to get there?
  1. Go to the domain’s details page.
  2. Click the green Manage button beside DNS.
  1. Go to the details page of the hosting plan hosting your domain.
  2. Click Launch to log into the Hosting Console.
  3. Click on Zone Editor.
Heads up: When you change your name servers, it can take up to 24 hours for the updates to spread across the internet. Don’t worry if things don’t work right away — that’s normal!
