What is an MX record?
An MX record, short for "Mail Exchange Record," is a type of DNS record that tells your domain where to deliver email. If you use Directnic for email hosting, your MX record will typically look like webxx.dnchosting.com, where "xx" represents your specific server number.
Where Do I Add an MX Record?
- Directnic DNS Manager: If your domain's Name Servers are set to Directnic defaults (like ns0.directnic.com), manage your MX record through the Directnic DNS Manager. The target domain name or server name goes in the IFQDN field.
- Directnic Hosting Console: If you have a Directnic hosting plan and your domain uses Directnic Hosting defaults (like ns1.dnchosting.com), the record has already been added for your convenience. You can find it in the Zone Editor under the "Domains" header.
- Third-Party Host: If your domain is pointed to a third-party host, manage the MX record through that provider's DNS manager.
