How to create a DKIM TXT record?

Creating a DKIM TXT Record: Safeguarding Your Emails

Email security is paramount, and Domain Keys Identified Mail (DKIM) plays a vital role in protecting against spam and phishing. It verifies the authenticity of email messages using DNS records associated with the domain. Here's how to create a DKIM TXT record:

Access DNS Manager (Directnic Nameservers):

  • If your domain is using Directnic Nameservers, you can add a DKIM TXT record via the DNS Manager.
  • Your email host will provide you with the DKIM record information. Typically, it looks like this:

    HOST: [subdomain]._domainkey.[domain]
    VALUE: k=rsa; p=[host key identifier]

Hosting Console (Directnic Hosting):

If your website/email is hosted with Directnic, you can create the DKIM record using the Hosting Console.
Log in to your Hosting Console and follow these steps:

  1. Click on "Email Deliverability" (under Email).
  2. Click "manage" next to your email domain name.
  3. The DKIM section will provide guidance on the necessary steps.

DKIM in Action:

  • DKIM operates by adding an encrypted signature to the headers of outgoing emails sent from a server with DKIM enabled.
  • A public DKIM key (DomainKeys) is then published via DNS, allowing receiving email servers to decrypt the digital signature. This helps validate the source of the email.

By setting up a DKIM TXT record, you enhance the security and authenticity of your email communication, reducing the risk of spam and phishing attacks. It's a proactive step towards ensuring the integrity of your email messages.
